Levan Gachechiladze, the leading opposition candidate for president in the controversial elections of 2008 and the co-founder of "Defend Georgia" has ruled himself out as a candidate for mayor of Tbilisi reports InterPressNews.
Speaking after a meeting with the parties hoping to organise a "primary" to select a single opposition candidate Gachechiladze said he would focus his efforts on uniting the opposition to president Saakashvili.
