Irakli Alasania said tonight that his decision to look at ways to agree a single opposition candidate for the post of mayor of Tbilisi is a "risky move" but will bring results.
Speaking on the public broadcaster the leader of Our Georgia Free Democrats (OGFD) said "It was a step taken to identify a single candidate. It was a risky move, but it will yield results, and society will confirm this. We'll go to elections with one voice, those political forces that are united by our shared values."
Alsania once again ruled out a formal alliance with Zurab Noghaideli: it was his decision that OGFD should enter talks which included Noghaideli's party over a single candidate which divided the three party Alliance for Georgia and saw the state controlled broadcasters indulge in orgy of recrimination against Alasania and Levan Gachechiladze - the founder of the Defend Georgia campaign and the principal advocate of forming a united opposition front.
